The Citizens of Liberty

The Citizens of Liberty is composed of two existing groups, the Hardtack Society Ladies and Elmira Soldiers Aid Society, and also of independent members not in these groups. We work closely with the Liberty Rifles to provide authentic civilian interaction when appropriate and also participate in progressive civilian only events.

Mission Statement:
We are devoted to the accurate depiction of the lives of citizens during the Civil War and surrounding years including all levels of economic statuses both north and south. We will strive to excel in terms of authenticity in order to honor their sacrifices. We will consistently seek opportunities to gain insight into their daily homefront and war experiences, in order to further the education of others and ourselves.
